August 2026 Global Baler Twine & Net Wrap Industry Brief

Global demand for baler twine and net wrap remained stable in August, driven by steady hay and straw harvests across North America and Europe. Prices for sisal twine eased slightly from July as East African and Brazilian supplies improved, while synthetic polypropylene (PP) twine held firm due to stable resin costs. Net wrap supply was balanced, though logistics delays in Northern Europe caused short-term regional tightness.

A key trend is the shift toward higher-strength, UV-resistant net wrap, especially in Australia and Argentina, where large round bales dominate. Buyers are increasingly choosing extra-wide 1.5m net wrap to reduce wrapping time. Sustainability remains a focus: more European buyers are requesting biodegradable twine, and several manufacturers announced pilot programs for recycled PP net wrap.

In Asia, monsoon-season demand in India and Southeast Asia slowed, but Chinese export orders for synthetic twine rose 6% month-on-month, mainly to the Middle East and Africa. Raw material costs are expected to stay flat into September, with no major supply disruptions reported.

Outlook: stable prices, moderate demand, and growing interest in eco-friendly and high-efficiency wrapping products.
